5/13/2024 - Week 62 - Go Fish!

Howdy! I am sending out my email today because my p-day got moved to today instead of yesterday, because we had a mission tour from a member of the Seventy this week! It has been a wild week and idk how to explain it all, but here you go...

I have a really funny story this week, but I'm saving it for the end so pls don't miss it!!!

The other day our housing coordinators showed up unannounced while we were doing comp study and our house wasn't super clean (mad embarrassing). But they're putting in applications for an apartment for us because we are getting kicked out of the house we are living in (New senior couple is coming into our area!)

There has been some wild weather this week! On Thursday night we had a crazy storm hit Crestview, I don't think there was an actual tornado, but it was close. We had thunder, lightning, high winds, and a power outage. We have a nice weather radio that goes off super loud and it went off 6 times in the night. It kept saying there was a severe thunderstorm and a tornado warning, but when we woke up in the morning we were still alive and our house was still intact! Super huge miracle.

We had a meeting all day over Zoom on Friday for all the trainers/trainees! It was really good, learned a lot. Also had a lot of back and forth shenanigans of throwing muffins at the Elders- long story.

After church on Mother's day, we went around a "heart attacked" a bunch of the Moms in the ward! It was so fun, but we got caught a couple times. The ring doorbells make it harder to be sneaky, haha. Later that day we had dinner with one of our favorite families, the Loughmillers! And Sis Loughmiller took some super cute pictures of us for our mommas! I love them.

Then yesterday we had our Zone Conference with Elder Ahmad S Corbitt of the Seventy! It was so amazing! He taught us how to have increased faith and see miracles! But while we were on the way to Zone Conference we got stuck in another crazy storm, it was like the storm clouds came out of nowhere and it was dark like it was nighttime. Lightning was lighting up the sky constantly and the rain started pouring, it soon turned into a flash flood and the roads were filled with water, and I could barely see the road in front of me! But we lived and we got to have a super spiritual Zone Conference and I got to see some awesome mission buddies.

FUNNY STORY:
On Wednesday we were headed to our dinner with a recent convert, but decided to knock some doors around her before we went in. When we got there the Elder's car was out front, so we decided to mess with them and put up their windshield wipers and turn their mirrors. Then later we saw that they did the same thing to our car. Fast forward later that evening we were at FHE with a family and the whole time the Elders were saying that they wanted to play Go Fish and kept mentioning fish so we were like okay, they're weird. Then even later we were in for the night and I decided to start getting ready for bed so I go into my bathroom and what do I see? A fish in my bathtub... So I'm shouting I'm like "NO, THEY GOT US" and Sister Huish came in to see what was going on and she's like "NO" So we checked her tub and there was a fish in there too! With water in there! The fish were dead, but then we had to deal with fish in our bathtubs at like 9:30 pm, lol!

Alright we need a spiritual thought after that. Like I said, we got to have our special Zone Conference yesterday and I just loved what Elder Corbitt taught us about having faith. He taught us from the verses Alma 5:15-16 and taught us a pattern. The verse says "Do you look forward with an eye of faith, and view this mortal body raised up in immortality" he taught us to look forward with an eye of faith and see the promises of the Lord being fulfilled! He talked about all the faithful people in the Book of Mormon who trusted so fully in the Lord's promises that they lived as though the promise had already been fulfilled- and we can too! Because God cannot lie, he will never break His promises! He also taught us to look to the future with faith and not dwell on the past! A great talk on that is President Holland's BYU Devotional called "Remember Lot's Wife" it's so good!!

Okay, I'm so sorry that this is so scattered and if you read all of this you deserve a medal. 🎖️I love you all, I love being a missionary and I love Jesus Christ! Have the best week ever!!!
