8/7/2023 - Week 22 - Read Genesis - the Earth is Flat...

Hello everyone,

So last week we were so excited to go down to Prattville for transfer meeting (all the missionaries who are getting transferred and their comps meet and Prezzie Chibota speaks, then we swap and head to our new areas) BUT Thursday night (literally 10 pm) our zone leader gave us a call telling us we were uninvited from going to transfer meeting lol. Basically a bunch of us missionaries who were swapping were staying up in northern alabama so we just met in Huntsville and swapped. We were supposed to be there at 6 am, so we got up at 4:30 and packed the car in the pouring rain and headed out. Bye Decatur, I love you.

So we stood out in the rain and swapped cars, sim cards and comps and got a little bit soaked. Eventually Sis Gerratt and I started heading over to Scottsboro and then we got there at 8am. the past two times we went to transfers we got back around 5 pm so it was weird to be back when our day was just starting lol.

But honestly it has been a short week so there's not much to report. I got to meet some of the progressing people in this area, so that's been cool. One of them is this lady named Jamie and she is funny, she saw my post on facebook saying I moved here and I added the scripture Omni 1:26 and that inspired her to read omni, she told us she was pretty confused about it haha.

Yesterday we visited a lady named Jacque Gatorgirl Thaxton Thaxton... at least that's what she wrote as her name when she submitted a referral online to meet with us. When we visited her there was a man there who introduced himself as brother Larry. And wow Brother Larry taught me a lot, he informed me that the earth is flat and that it says so in Genesis, he invited me to re read it. Apparently the firmament spoken of is a dome that covers the earth and when you get to Antarctica there is an ice wall on the edge of the earth that keeps all the water in. Who knew? He went on to talk about the government and how messed up it is, but he says that him and his biker friends are ready to defend our country, he said "we're 400-500 strong, we have guns. beer. and... beards!" So if you're ever in a bind, call brother Larry.

We got to go to church yesterday, and we have a kinda small branch here, it's definitely a change from the Decatur ward! But from what I've seen so far it is a good branch!

This week will be a normal week so I'll have more stories next time!

Spiritual thought:
I recently restarted the Book of Mormon and in the very first verse of 1 Nephi it says "I, Nephi having been born of goodly parents, therefore I was taught somewhat in tall the learning of my father; and having seen many afflictions in the course of my days..." I'm sure we all know this verse, but the footnote on afflictions links it to the topical guide for affliction, blessing, and God, Gifts of. I think it's so cool that our afflictions truly bring us blessings! Of course we know that in this life we are meant to face opposition, but that opposition can be for our benefit and bring us blessings. So try to find the blessings in the afflictions this week!

Anywayyyyy I hope y'all have a great week!
