Hello Hello my friends, I hope you're all doing well!
I am munching on some wings from Buffalo Wild Wings as I type this email teehee.
On Monday this week some members of the ward took us out to eat to a place called big bob gibsons, it's a bbq place that started here in Decatur. I guess it's a staple of Decatur and you have to try it, and it was good! I got a loaded baked potato that was topped with pulled pork, yummy.
Tuesday, we had district council with our DL, ZLs, and two of the APs it was a partyyy. After our district council we had interviews with President Chibota! I just love the Chibotas so much. later in the day we had a member join us for a lesson and she drove us to the lesson, she was flying over those speed bumps like they weren't even there! But hey we got to the lesson and back so we're good.
The next day Sister Pat (super fun member of the ward!) joined some lessons with us and one of the lessons was a video call with someone Sister Hyde has met on social media. This friend is an apostolic pentacostal which is what Sister Pat was before she joined the church. So she knew what she was talking about and it was such an interesting conversation. I like learning about other peoples beliefs, and they believe in some interesting things haha.
As you may or may not know missionaries use a sweet little tool called area book, it helps us track who we are teaching, what they've been taught, where they live, and all sorts of important information like that, and it is just an app we have on our phones. Well on Thursday areabook went down, sister hyde couldn't even log in, it was letting me in, but we didn't want to enter all of our information and have it be lost when it started working again so we kept our notes in the notes app haha. It started working again on friday and we had to enter all our information back in. Thursday night we had a member participated lesson with our friend Don, and Don gave us some flowers from his garden! So sweet! After that we had a dinner with this family who have 4 young kids and they are so funny, one of them was named David and he said his favorite story of David in the Bible was of David and Bathsheba... his mom said "That wasn't his brightest moment, I think David and Goliath is a better one."
Saturday we met a woman and asked if we could share a scripture with her and she goes "Y'all reading from the bible?" and we were like I guess so Sister Hyde read the sermon on the mount to her and she goes "That's cool, anyway" and went into this long rant about how the bible talks about racism and that Jesus was hung on a tree not a cross. Then she told us about all these conspiracy theories she believes in. Everytime she would tell us a new one we were like "huh I've never heard that before" and she said "You really haven't been paying attention huh?" no that just didn't happen.
This week Sister Hyde asked me how I tan really easily. If y'all know me, this is an incredible compliment, because I've been using white out as my concealer, so this alabama sun must be different.
My spiritual thought this week is about the Priesthood. I have been blessed to always have the priesthood power in my life and in my home, but this week my testimony of it has grown so much. I think I've just realized the significance and the uniqueness of the priesthood power, it truly is what makes the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints have the fullness of truth on the earth. It's the power to act in God's name! The Priesthood has become so special to me and I'm so grateful that it has been restored to the earth!
I love you all and I hope you have a fantastic week!
❤Sister Hansen
