Hello, hello everybody! It has been such a wonderful week- I think I've been laughing all week. It's been such a good time.
Last P-day we went on a hike with our district at a place called Lover's Peak??? I don't know, I didn't pick it. But we had a good time, the hike almost took me out and it made me realize that I think I have asthma, but we all lived and no one fell off the lookout that we ended up at. We went back to Cheeseburger Bobbies for lunch and it was as fabulous as ever. We went back to the church to hangout with the other missionaries and we had a good time. We stayed with Sister Goff and Sister Dahlin and slept on the floor like a couple of bags of bones. Sister Goff told me that I woke up in the night and said "I've been on this side for WAY too long" then rolled over. And I do remember waking up and feeling like my arm was paralyzed, so it probably happened.
On Tuesday we had ZONE CONFERENCEEEEEE!!!!! Yay, I love Zone Conference. We learned a lot of good things, Sister Chibota shared a message that she hadn't planned on sharing with us and it was very inspired, I love Sister Chibota. Also since Sister Hyde is back in the zone, we got to see each other <3 after ZC we went on exchanges with the Hazel Green sisters, so I went back to Scottsboro with Sister Perry she's awesome! We had dinner with the woods while we were there and I had to take over Sister Gerratt's role of doing the dishes. (Don't worry, my job is to take out the trash). We saw a couple people that night, but we didn't spend much time in Scottsboro because the next morning we had Distrct Council for both districts in the zone. First we had DC over video call and the the other districts DC in person. This day was just sooooo funny. We got to the building before our Zone leaders did, but they were still on the call and I was talking when the ZLs got there and I could hear my voice coming towards me and I couldn't think haha. We were talking and joking the whole time during both district councils. It was so much fun.
Afterwards we had lunch with the other district and our ZLs decided to show us how to make PB&J sandwiches... It was the most heinous thing I've ever witnessed. First Elder Peterson took a piece of bread and put both peanut butter and jelly on it and mixed it with a knife and put the other piece of bread on. We were all roasting him telling him that's not how you make a pb&j, including Elder Pendleton, who then took his turn to make a sandwich. He put a big glob of peanut butter on one piece of bread, then a tiny bit of jelly on the other, smashed the two pieces together and rubbed them. It was awful. Both Elders ate those sandwiches like that... gross. Then during lunch we filled out some mad libs, very hilarious. One of them included a giraffe running on it's legs and it's fricken legs.... IDK?
After District Council we blitzed Hazel Green, but this time I went with Sister Wasden (who's first name is Kaylee so we know she's cool) She is a brand new missionary and we had a fantastic time! We met a guy who lowkey was bashing us, but in a kind way? Idk he was like "Good for you for talking to a complete stranger... and a black man on top of that" like we wouldn't talk to him because he's black? people are funny. We had a fun time with the other sisters and eventually Sister Gerratt and I made our way back to Scottsboro.
On Thursday we met up with Jamie and she gave Sister Gerratt a cow shirt (Sister Gerratt loves cows) This is like the 6th gift Jamie has given her in the time I've been here, but this day I got my first gift from Jamie... a pen! It says "faithful in serving" on it, I like it a lot. We pretty much spent Thursday and Friday trying to tell people about General Conference!
General Conference was so good! We watched with members and friends and it was such a party!!!! We watched with Mama Reyes, our friend Nancy, Sister Dalton, President and Sister Bennett and Jamie! On Sunday between sessions we ate lunch with Jamie and the Woods- they kept joking about the last time when I came by with sis Perry how I cleaned the whole house and even found dishes that Sis Gerratt didn't know existed- they were just teasing Sister Gerratt it was pretty funny.
Spiritual thought:
I seriously enjoyed every session of General Conference, it's crazy to me that I've had 2 general conferences on my mission already. There were too many good talks to name them all, but here are some things that stood out to me.
-President Eyring's talk about the importance of the companionship of the Holy Ghost really stood out to me, it truly is critical.
-Sister Runia's talk about zooming out and taking a look at the bigger picture
-President Nelson's about thinking Celestial!!!!!!
President Nelson's talk was so iconic and so perfect, I was so grateful that we got to hear from him even though he wasn't there.
Honestly I don't have my notebook with my notes from conference with me, but I have so many thoughts from conference. Hopefully next week I will be able to put my thoughts together better next week.
For now I love y'all- have a great week full of love and laughter! <3
❤Sister Hansen
