10/9/2023 - Week 31 - Hot Dog Fudge

Hey everyone, how's it goinggggg?

I never know how to start these emails. But let me start by saying that it has been a wonderful week!

We once again got to go to both district councils which is my favorite thing! I love district council! On Tuesday we went to the DC for our district which was pretty fire, but immediately after we exchanged with the YSA sisters. Like before lunch we switched and I was going to the YSA area. Which meant no district council lunch :( (we did eat lunch later, just not with the district) BUT the best part is that Sister Hyde is in the YSA area and I got to exchange with her!!!! Which means I've officially gone on an exchange with all of my previous companions- it's too much fun.

The YSA sisters are in a trio so I was in their area with Sister Hyde and Sister Lundell (who in mission lingo is my step sister because sister Hyde is follow up training her right now) They are super awesome sisters. On Wednesday morning before their DC they do service for the bishops storehouse so I got to join in on that and it was a lot of fun. Sister Martineau took a fire picture of me and I think it should be on the cover of the liahona or something. After the service we had district council part two. (am I saying district council too much?) Anywayyyy later sister gerratt did exchange reviews with the sisters which took some time because there are three of them and by the time that was done and we made the drive back to Scottsboro it was already dinner time! We got to have dinner with our branch president and his wife! Really great people, I think he has like 5 different jobs and he's been the branch president for 12 years... Idk how they do it all.

Thursday morning we found out we would be having interviews with president about an hour before they were scheduled. Luckily they were over zoom, but it went well, we love President Chibota <3

On Friday we had a super sweet lesson with our friend, Carolann who has been taught by missionaries since the dawn of time. We were like girl we cannot keep visiting you and talking about nonsense. Do you want to be baptized or nah? And she was like yeah I wanna be baptized, but not right now. Eh, she'll get there. While we were there her husband was asking if we ever had time to do recreational things and we were like yeah and then he was inviting us to play magic the gathering with him lolllll. We can do recreational things on pdays, but not that lol.

That night we had a video call with everyone in the zone to go over our progress and our goals. At the beginning of the call Elder Peterson goes "alright, Elder Wahlstrom, will you say the opening prayer?" and we all laughed because they were besties, but Elder Wahlstrom got transferred last transfer... then Elder Wahlstrom popped on the screen and started praying. It was like in a Disney channel show when they have a celebrity cameo it was so iconic. (he was up there for a baptism of someone he had previously taught)

On Saturday there was a bit of a chill in the air... it was incredible. I pulled out my cardigan and wrapped myself up in it. The air outside finally feels crisp it's so scrumptious. But we went out and visited Jamie which was awesome. While we were there she gets up and grabs something out of the fridge. She then pointed it at us and goes "take one" it looked like a bowl full of raw hot dogs. We were like what is it? Turns out it was fudge and it was really good, but it really looked like hot dogs.

Yesterday we had dinner with a wonderful family- the Carlson family. They sent a picture of us home to our parents which was sweet of them. Right after that we had to scoot to the church building because we had to be on a zoom meeting with some members of the stake presidency (because sista G is the stl) we were supposed to be there in person, but it's like an hour away and we don't have the miles for that. And let me tell you... this meeting was 15 minutes long. we were supposed to drive to Huntsville for a 15 minute long meeting? that's crazy talk.

Anywayyyyy it was a wonderful week and I love you all- keep being awesome!

spiritual thought:
I really loved Elder Uchtdorf's talk from conference! He talks about how we all have times in our lives where we stray from the path of holiness and feel it is impossible to come back. But with Jesus Christ it is possible! And the joy that we feel from repentance is indescribable! If you're lost and feel too scared to come back, just trust in the Lord and come back! there is so much joy to be had!

Love you, don't forget to see the joy in everyday life.
