10/23/2023 - Week 33 - Transfer Weeeeek

Hi everyone! This has been a crazy week!

On Tuesday we had our last district council of the transfer, and it was weird because we didn't know who was going to be staying and who would be going, but afterwards when we were at lunch we signed each others transfer journals (which is basically a lil notebook you use as a yearbook and have all your missionary friends sign) it was so funny because the elders were STRUGGLING to know what to write in our journals. I think they were stressing over it for real. we took some pics and said goodbye maybe. Sad :( later that day one of the youth from our branch joined us for lessons! It was so awesome because she said she is considering going on a mission! We're so excited for her.

Honestly Wednesday felt like the longest day ever. I'm not sure if it was just a slow day or if it was just because we knew we would be finding out transfer news that night. But we had some really good conversations with some of the people we're teaching to find out if they're truly interested or not. That night brought the fateful transfer call (a call where every missionary in the mission is on zoom and the AP's read off who's going where) and the results are that I am staying in Scottsboro and Sister Gerratt is leaving- she's hopping on over to the Huntsville YSA! But the twist is that I am training! My new companion is Sister Moralez who is brand new to the mission! This was a shock to me, but here we are!

On Thursday morning we had a guy show up to clean our carpets so we had to boot scoot and boogie on out of there. We spent that day saying goodbye to people and we visited sister wood because it was her birthday! when we got back that night the carpet was still wet... but sister gerratt still had to pack everything... so we dealt with wet carpets! We got everything done and went to bed knowing that we needed to be up at 4 am... however... we woke up at 4:45 am... we both slept through our alarms, BUT i had set an alarm at 4:45 to remember to get the bike rack so that was a miracle that we woke up. by another miracle we made it to huntsville at 6 am. We met up with other missionaries there to switch cars and stuff. While we were there all of our alarms went off because it was 6:30. One of the elders alarms went off and it was "Show Yourself" from Frozen 2- we were dying, why is that his alarm? Anyway we drove down to Prattville and because sister gerratt didn't need to go down to Prattville, Sister Sawyer and Sister Goff went with me. It was a good drive down, we didn't die! We had a meeting for the missionaries who are training before the real transfer meeting!

During the transfer meeting the APs announce the greenies and who will be training them, so they go "Sister Moralez, you will be trained by Sister Hansen!" and we both stand up and then take a cute picture with president and sister Chibota, it was awesome. Now I have 2 of those pictures! It's always fun after the meeting to talk to the missionaries and see where they're going and everything. I remember at my first transfer meeting everyone told me that I had the best trainer, like everyone was hyping up Sister Hyde. At this meeting my ZL, Elder Pendleton, told Sister Moralez that I was so mean to him all last transfer and that he's never met anyone meaner... :( anyway we went to chick fil a then we headed back to Scotty B! its about a 3 hour drive so I had plenty of time to prove that I am not a mean person. We drove safe and made it back alive! Yay for Sister Moralez's first day!

On Saturday we went to Josey's graduation party (She is the Wood's daughter) it was a lot of fun. We had some sweet lessons and Sister Moralez and I are just taking it a day at a time.

On Sunday Jamie, Violet, and Gabriel came to church and so did our friend Roy!!! Then we taught all 5 of the primary kids during second hour! It was crazy and fun! After church Sister Olenslager had brought a bunch of food and invited us to eat with her and her family. They also invited the woods and Jamie and her kids to eat becuase they had so much food. (the Olenslager's live far away so they can't feed us in their home) Anyway it was like this awesome dinner party at the church. I love this branch. We had dinner with the Carlson's again and they're wonderful!

In conclusion, life is crazy, but we love it anyway!

Spiritual thought:
Yesterday in Pimary we talked about preparing for the second coming and how we don't know when it's going to happen. And it's true because we know that we are in the last days, and we see the things prophesied of in the scriptures happening. So that means that we need to do all we can to prepare ourselves for when christ comes back. So my invitation to you is to think of something that you can do to prepare for the second coming!

Love y'all, have a great week!

❤Sister Hansen

Sorry my pics don't make any sense...
