1/15/2024 - Week 45 - Watch out for the winter weather!

Hello everyone,

Fun fact for you, in the south everything shuts down when someone even thinks about snow. Whoever our weatherman is has been making some bold claims about the weather we'll be having. Last night we had a meeting cancelled because it was maybe going to snow today. And today we are not allowed to drive our cars because of the weather. Let me let you in on a secret... there's no snow. But it's okay.

We've actually had a bit of wonky weather all week. On Monday night there were some storms and we were having dinner with this family and their two daughters were so concerned that we weren't going to make it home safely, (we did) but it was so sweet.

This week I got to go on exchanges with Sister Dahlin! She was trained by Sister Goff and we've been in the same district her whole mission! She is so cute and funny and we got up to some shenanigans.

On Wednesday when I was reunited with Sista Springer we helped Mama Reyes put some wallpaper up in her bathroom. At one point Mama Reyes was up on a step stool pouring water on the wallpaper with a watering can and Sis Springer was crouched down smoothing it out and Mama Reyes looked at me and said "shh" then poured water on Sister Springer's head and she was like "I baptized you!" It was so funny! neither of us saw that coming!

That same day we also met a girl named Dailey who we think really just needed someone to come pray with her that day, it was a sweet little miracle.

One day this week we were at the church and we saw this guy mowing the grass (it's completely dead idk why he's mowing it) and we talked to him, I guess he does yard work for a lot of church buildings so he's met a lot of missionaries! It was pretty cool, and while we were talking to him the sun came out and burned half of our faces haha, but my freckles popped out so that was a plus.

On Friday Sister Olenslager took us out to Jamie's house which was such a miracle! She is so amazing! we had a great lesson with Jamie and she ended up coming to church this week and I think that Sister Olenslager being there really helped her feel motivated to come to church! On our way back, it was raining pretty hard and we got to a spot in the road where there was a fallen tree completely blocking the road. So we had to find another way to get back home lol. But we made it.

Yesterday we actually had quite a few people at church, which was awesome! Some members picked up one of our friends and took him without us even knowing! What a miracle. Another cool thing that happened last night- Sister Springer and I were talking about how we have been struggling to find people to teach in our area and it's just been hard to feel motivated to keep doing it sometimes. But we decided to go and visit this guy who sent in a referral online to meet with missionaries and when we talked to him he remembered sending the referral in! (Usually people don't even know that they did it) and so we got to go in and teach him and his grandparents! We found 3 new people on a Sunday night- the last few moments of our week. Talk about fourth floor, last door. It really just showed us that God is looking out for us and He does put us where we need to be when we need to be there! He's too cool

Spiritual thought:
I've been thinking about the plan of salvation a lot this week. It's so interesting to me that every other religion believes in heaven or hell. It's very black and white, but when we know the character of God we know that He is merciful. He wants us to come back to Him- He doesn't want us to be condemned to fire and brimstone. But I also know that He has more in store for us than just "heaven" Sure it would be nice for a few decades, but eternity? I think I would get bored. God wants us to progress, He wants us to have the opportunity to learn and grow and become like Him. It's just interesting to me, but for now lets just do all we can to keep growing and working towards the Celestial kingdom. Y'all should go study President Nelson's talk "Think Celestial".

Love y'all

❤️Sister Hansen
