1/8/24 - Week 44 - The prettiest woman in Scottsboro, Alabama

Hi everyone, how's it goin?

Heres a cute little synopsis of my week (we all know it's not going to be little)...

Last Tuesday we had district council and one of our zone leaders is going home so we sent him off with "God be with you till we meet again". After the song one of his companions, Elder Hancock, tried to shoot a confetti cannon at him, but he had it facing the wrong way so it shot the ground lol. It was really funny. That day as we were making our journey back to Scottsboro (we meet for district council in Huntsville and its about an hour away) we knocked on a door and met this really cute older couple! They let us in and we talked with them for awhile, they were very sweet but when we brought up the Book of Mormon they said they don't believe in that kind of way to live? Idk but they kinda sent us on our way after that.

Wednesday was honestly such a long day. It was cold and rainy and we had no set appointments with people and it just seemed like the day would never end. But the good news is that Jacob taught us in the Book of Mormon that we need to have opposition in all things. The good days wouldn't nearly be as good without the bad ones.

On Thursday we got to help decorate the primary room for the new year! It turned out really cute! We also visited an older guy who told me I looked beautiful... while we had members with us...

The next day Sister Wood came out with us and we visited another man who is older as well. While we were there he looked at me and said "Sister Hansen, your hair looks beautiful down like that... golden... red" the three of us were trying to contain our laughter while we were still talking with him. I guess I am just very good at attracting old men in Scottsboro, Alabama. They can't get enough of me.

On Saturday we visited our friend Miss Willamay and she is just the cutest lil old lady ever. I love her so much. She has a very strong faith in Jesus Christ.

Yesterday we got to go to church! And it was just so good! So many wonderful testimonies were shared, and as I sat there I was really reflecting on how amazing this branch is. I've had the opportunity to serve in Scottsboro for the last 6ish months and I've gotten to know the members here so we'll and they are just amazing! The love they have for each other and the support they offer is incredible. After the meetings we talked to one brother in our branch who we didn't know very well and he's just amazing! He told us so many stories from his mission of how good and how hard it was. It was really cool. After church we also ate lunch with some members at the church building! It was so nice of them and so much fun. Later that day we were out knocking doors in an apartment complex and we walked past this tree thing and when we walked past a bunch of birds flew out of that thing right above our heads. We stared at the tree in shock and then like 20 more birds flew out. How were there that many birds in there?

Anyway this was wild but that was my week!

Spiritual thought:
I'm so excited to study the Book of Mormon this year for Come Follow Me! Something the mission has taught me is that the Book of mormon is so significant to the doctrine of christ and the restored gospel. The truths found in the Book of Mormon change everything! And it even helps to make the Bible make more sense. Yesterday in testimony a brother in our branch said "the Book of Mormon is the most radiant jewel in the crown of the scriptures" and I love that!!!! It's so true! So take advantage of the study plan that they give us this year, I know it's gonna be good. And I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and so applicable to our day ❤️

That's all, I hope you have the BEST WEEK EVERRRRR

❤️ Sister Hansen
