12/4/2023 - Week 39 - The Elders were in our apartment...

Hello,

It's beginning to seem a lot like Christmas... and I say that because it doesn't look like Christmas here, haha. It's 60 degrees and sunny, but it's still chilly with the humidity. I did hear that there is some nice snow back home in Idaho though.

Anyway, it has been an interesting week, we've had a couple visitors at our apartment haha. The other day our housing coordinators came by to see how our apartment was and to make sure everything was good, I guess we passed haha. They "fixed" the light in our kitchen because I guess one bulb was out (didn't bother me) and now it's as bright as the sun in there AND the light makes a nice high pitched sound whenever it's on. And we were like "is Elder Anderson gonna do anything about that?" Anyway, they took us to lunch and we had a great time.

On Thursday this week I actually went to the dentist. Not what I had planned on doing with my morning, but I had been experiencing some pain in my teeth oopsies, so I went and I can successfully report that I have no cavities! šŸ‘ That night we went to a restaurant called Buena Vista with the Woods because they were having trivia night that night! It was so fun, we didn't win, but we still had fun!

On Friday Elder and Sister Martineau (a nearby senior couple) came by to visit us for a "shepherding visit" (basically just checking on us and making sure we're okay), but they had Elder White and Elder Po'uha from our district with them, it was so funny. Afterwards we went to lunch at a sweet little sandwich shop called Payne's.

On Saturday, we were teaching our friend Brad and he gave us both a poinsettia plant. Very kind of you Brad. That same day we went to the Woods house to let their chickens out and feed them because they were down in Montgomery for a church leadership training with Elder Cook!!!! So cool. We got to hang out with Granny (Sis Wood's mom) and we had a blast. We helped her wrap presents in the morning after we let the chickens out, then we came back in the evening and put the chickens back and fed them in the pouring rain - it was also dark. Then we ate dinner with Granny and got to hear her whole life story which was so fun!

Yesterday we had a special stake conference with Bishop Waddell of the presiding bishopric! We all thought there were going to be boundary changes or leadership changes or something, but no it was just for fun. It was a really good conference though.

This week on the 6th I will have been a missionary for 9 months and it blows my mind that it's been that long, but I'm so grateful for the experiences that I've had. There is nothing like serving a mission, it is literally life changing. and I'm so grateful for all of you, especially those of you who keep reaching out to me even if I don't respond, I really love seeing your messages and I'm sorry that I never get to them :(

Spiritual thought:
Something they talked about at the stake conference was that Jesus is always the answer and it's so true! he really is the answer! for any question, any problem, any trial or heartache or loss Jesus is the answer, and He is waiting to heal you. so reach out to him, he will help you. Also, if you didn't already, go watch the First Presidency Christmas devotional, it was so good!

Love you all- Roll Tide Roll

♥️Sister Hansen
