Hey everyone! How are ya? This was my first full week in Florida! Yay!
On Wednesday we went to this park to find some people to talk to and we met this guy who was magnet fishing and he wasn't super interested but we left him a card with our number. Fast forward a couple hours he called us and he's like yeah I've got some free time now so if you wanna come teach me lets do it. So we pulled up and taught him about the Book of Mormon!
On Thursday we had our first district council! My district councils have always been on Tuesdays so it was weird to be on Thursday. The new district is cool, I think it'll be a good transfer. We also got to go on exchanges with our STLs on Thursday! So I went to Fort Walton with Sister Dent! Their area has the beach in it but I didn't get to see it. :( We had a lot of fun, and we got to go to the Institute class in Niceville, FL where my bestie Sister Goff is serving! So I got to see her cute face! (Side note: I know you have no idea where any of these places are, but don't worry, I don't either)
The next day we exchanged back and Sister Rhodie and I had to SCOOT back to our area to get to some appointments with members! We got to visit with the Smiths and the Hansens! (My family????) Then we had dinner with this awesome family, the Hammonds and I LOVE THEM! They're amazing, they made us gumbo and beignets (a true southern meal).
Then plot twist when we got home the garage door was open and there was a frog in our garage.... and we didn't wAnt to touch him so we left him there. Hope he's doing okay.
Also that night we had a wild storm that caused our weather radio to go off twice in the night and I literally thought it was the end of the world both times. The lightning was crazy and lit up our room like every 30 seconds it also blew a piece of siding off our house.
On Saturday we got to do some service for a member and we dug 18 holes for her in our garden. I felt like Stanley yelnats for a bit there (our holes weren't that big). We also had an awesome Relief Society activity that day for the RS's birthday! It was a lot of fun and also Taylor Swift themed?
Then yesterday of course we had church! Yay I love church, still trying to meet all these members and get to know their names and faces. Fun fact, my ward mission leader in my ward here served in the Boise Idaho mission and knows some of my family- he actually baptized my cousin Hayden, what a small world!
Also last Wednesday I hit one year as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That's absolutely wild and it blows my mind that I've been doing this for a year. It's been such a good year. Genuinely my mission has been some of the hardest and best time of my life, if you've ever thought about going on a mission I would encourage you to do it, because I'm gonna let you in on a little secret... I never wanted to go on a mission, but God told me to! And turns out He was right! I've learned so much in the last year and I know there's still so much for me to learn. Anyway that's my mission soapbox.
Spiritual thought:
I've been thinking about how important it is for everyone to have personal testimony. The world is getting crazier every day and we're getting closer and closer to the 2nd coming. So it's important to be prepared for that and to have that testimony for yourself. Jesus taught us that we are the only ones that can gain a testimony for ourselves. So anyway, just do those things that will help you grow your faith and be prepared for when Jesus comes back because it's gonna be so good! Y'all are amazing and I love you!
Can I still say Roll Tide if I'm in Florida?
