4/17/2023 - Week Six - Goats & Cats!

Hello hello everybody

I hope you've all had a lovely week!

One day this week we were headed to go visit one of our friends, but Sister Hyde walked up to the wrong door and knocked on it and a young girl answers and sis Hyde goes "is Tyrece here?" And the girl goes "who is Tyrece?" I had to tell her that we were at the wrong door. But we met a new person to teach who is super cool!

On Tuesday we had zone conference! It was so good! It was seriously so fun, I got to see Sister Goff! We were reunited ❤️ but it was so fun to be with a whole bunch of missionaries, and we learned so much. They are kinda changing the way we teach people which is kinda cool, and not really a problem for me because I hadn't gotten the old way down yet. After we got back from zone conference and were back out in the world, we went to visit one of our friends and she was standing outside with her friend, Dave. And unfortunately for us, Dave is a basher. My first basher though! It was kinda fun actually, he was just asking us questions about how we know God is real and I think when he left he thought that he won and we were going to question our faith, so that was fun!

On Wednesday some members of our ward fed us, and they are so cool! They made their house out of shipping containers, they have bees, she's a black belt in karate, they are building cars from the frame up, and they have goats and chickens. They had some new baby goats and we got to play with them! It was so much fun!

We also visited an older man named Walt who is a wood worker. We've talked to him a few times and his story is really cool, but this time he gave us some little wood creations that he made! They're little trinkets and ornaments, they are so cool and I'm keeping them forever!

I also got to meet our head STL who is also my trainers trainer so my mission grandma?? She's super cool, but she's going home this transfer!
That same day we had another semi basher, just a woman who was getting mad at us for asking about her beliefs because she couldn't tell us what she believed. We were just curious 🤷‍♀️

We had another meal with some members on Friday and it was so awesome to get to know more of the ward! This family had 7 cats and after we got home I found out that I'm allergic to cats. One of my eyes turned red and swelled up, Sister Hyde kept laughing at me, it was so funny. (Pictures included)

And finally just last night we were doing a video call lesson with someone Sister Hyde found on social media, his name is Prince and he lives in Zimbabwe. Prince is so funny! He kept asking us to sing for him and then he sang for us! We are teaching him about the book of Mormon and trying to get him to read it, but he doesn't really understand what it is. We have tried to explain it to him every way we can, but he's confused about it. We're not giving up on him though!

And update about John: we are no longer teaching him, so we don't have to worry about that anymore!

Spiritual thought:
Something we were taught in zone conference was that if we put our faith in Jesus christ he will lift us up and strengthen us so that we can serve our brothers and sisters. I am a missionary right now, and most of you aren't, but that doesn't mean that you can't serve your eternal brothers and sisters each day. Christ gives us the strength to carry out the Father's work. Keep serving!
And I invite yall to listen to the song "I will walk with Jesus" I think it's from the children's songbook, but it is so good!

Pro tip: don't sit on chairs with nail boards on them!

Shoutout to Dad! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I got to see a rocket this week and took a picture of it just for you😁

Have a great week, talk to you next Monday!

❤️Sister Hansen
