Good day everybody!
This week has been kinda strange, not sure why but it feels like Sister Hyde and I didn't talk to many people. Every day we would be like "today feels so weird" so idk just some weird days. But this week we had meals with members almost every day which was soooo awesome! The members here are so involved in the work and take good care of us!
Along with that, something we have been struggling with is getting our members to join us for lessons, not because they're not willing, but because they're so busy. So we've been struggling with that, but this week we had like 5 or 6 member participated lessons! And we taught lessons to the members that fed us, so that's more member work!
On Wednesday we went to go visit someone that we met once named Destiny, so we go to her house and this woman answers the door and we're like "is Destiny home" and she's like "Baby, Destiny doesn't live here" turns out Destiny is someone's girlfriend who lives at that house? We're still confused about the whole situation, but the woman who answered the door is this sweet woman named Dawn. She invited us in and said we could share our message with her. While we were trying to teach her this dude walks in, then later another dude, then this woman and her 3 year old grandson, then a random girl, then Dawn's mom, and also destiny's boyfriend, so at this point we have a whole crew here. As these people are coming in they're joining in the conversation so it was really cool! It was so chaotic, but pretty fun! We're excited to go back and teach them more and maybe figure out how they're all related!
Almost every day this week we have been trying to do a zoom call with one of our friends and almost every time she bails on us. She's joined the zoom call probably twice. It's funny because I think she truly wants to learn more, but she doesn't want to join a zoom call.
Last week we found someone who submitted an online referral to meet with missionaries a while ago and they hadn't been able to contact him and then this week we taught him and he wants to be baptized! He came to church and loved it and we're excited to teach him more!
On Friday we saw a woman out walking with a baby stroller, she was walking very swiftly and aggressively. Hopping curbs and going wild with it, I was concerned for this child's well being. As she passed us we noticed 2 things. 1) there is no baby in the stroller 2) she's pregnant. Just getting some practice in I guess.
One of the members in our ward gave us some ribs that he made and his homemade rib sauce, we cooked those bad boys up yesterday and they were so gooood, and they had some ZANG to 'em. That's real southern cooking right there!
Church yesterday was so good and Sister Hyde and I got to share a little message in relief society too!
But the absolute best thing that happened this week was on Tuesday. I got a text from my family saying that Parker's mission call had arrived! I got permission to call in that night to watch him open it. He is going to the Ohio Cincinnati Mission!!! I am so excited for him and I can't wait to swap mission stories with him! I think it's so cool and I'm so proud of my lil bro! Ohio won't know what hit 'em!
Spiritual thought:
No matter who you are or what you've experienced in your life, the Book of Mormon applies to you. It can lead and guide you, and even when we change in life, it still applies to us. The Book of Mormon never changes, but the messages in it will always be the answer to any concern or trial you have!
Keep on keepin on everybody! Love ya!
❤Sister Hansen
