On Tuesday we got to have dinner with our friend Jasmine and her husband Tyler and their cutie lil girl Maeve. They are so stinking funny, we had the best time. The next day we were invited to a missionary themed mutual that the youth were having and they did a Q & A with us sisters. I felt pretty cool, tbh.
On Thursday we did our District Council in Defuniak Springs which is like 30 minutes away from 3 of the areas in our district, but some members of the Defuniak ward wanted to feed us! So we had our District Council there and then a lil picnic with the members and our whole district (9 missionaries) It was so fun. That night we had a bonfire with some amazing members and we ate shmore's.
This is where it really gets exciting though, on Friday Sister Rhodenizer and I got to go to the temple to do Endowments! I haven't been able to do that in over a year so this was super exciting for me! We went with a girlie in our ward who just got back from her mission and her little brother. Now we are in Crestview, FL but we're in the Birmingham temple district and it is a 4 hour drive. SO needless to say it was a long day. But as we were driving to the temple I was so grateful to be back in Alabama! I LOVE that place and I just felt so much love in my heart for this wonderful place, I don't even know how to describe it. It also took us much longer to get to the temple than we anticipated and we ended up getting there at 5:55 for our 6 o clock endowment session. I have never sprinted through a temple in my life, but I did that day. and we made it! I got to see Brother and Sister Wood from Scottsboro and a member from Decatur and 2 service missionaries from Huntsville, it was so amazing. Being in the temple I felt such a love for this gospel and the opportunity I have to be a missionary, it is truly indescribable. We also got back very, very early in the morning yikes.
The next day was General Conference though! And we got to watch with some super awesome members! I love this ward. But the greatest miracle of my life also happened on Saturday. My friend Jamie and her daughter Violet, from Scottsboro both were baptized and confirmed as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! I got to watch over video call (Sis R and I both taught her because we both served in Scottsboro) I cannot describe the joy that I felt as I saw my friends make a covenant with God especially after the long wait. It was truly special and I'm very proud of them.
Over the past 2 days we've gotten to watch Conference and hear from the Lord's prophets and apostles. We watched with our members and friends that we are teaching, it was so amazing. I loved so many messages that were shared, especially the emphasis on temples and keeping our covenants. I especially loved the talk about receiving revelation in rays of light and not pillars, that was an excellent reminder for me. And I loved Elder Kearon's talk. I can tell that man is an apostle of the Lord.
In conclusion: God is good. The church is true. There is so much joy to be found in it. God has given me a special witness of that this week. I love y'all. I love Alabama. Have an amazing week!
