What's this? Sister Hansen sending out an email on a Tuesday? That doesn't seem right.
Oh but it is, yesterday we got transfer news, and in our mission that means that P day is on Tuesday. I'm going to keep you in suspense about transfer news though.
This week has felt pretty long, maybe because it was a day longer for transfers. But to tell you my first story I have to back up to a couple weeks ago. We knocked on a random door and met a man named Butch who said he was sick, but to come back and pray with him sometime. Then while on exchanges, Sis Hyde and Sis Lords met another guy named Butch while public contacting. We kept in contact with new Butch but we didn't have his address because he didn't know where he lived. Anyway we eventually gave him a call and he got really mad about something and told us to delete his number, then the next couple of days we went to the other Butch's house to visit him. Turns out it was the same Butch the whole time and he was not happy to see us.
On Wednesday morning sis Hyde and I decided to go to a nearby park to shoot some hoops for our morning exercise. So we got all ready and went and we were looking around and we saw baseball diamonds, a football field, a playground, a soccer field, but no basketball hoops. So that was pretty silly. That same day we talked to a girl named Kaylei! We also talked to our friend Mona who has been taught by missionaries FOREVER. She is the perfect example of a southern grandma and she offered to feed us next week! We love her.
The next day we went to visit someone we had only taught once before. He seems super chill and engaged in the lessons. Then while we were talking to him he told us we might not see him for a couple weeks because he is going out of town because he plays football for an NFL team...😮 WHAT?!? He just said it so casually I think Sister Hyde almost died.
On Friday our Relief Society president took us with her to go visit some less active and older ladies in the ward, it was so fun to visit with them! That day we also got to go see our friend, Don who I had never met before. Sis Hyde told me that he had asked to have some time without meeting with us and finally after this whole transfer he was ready for us to come back. And he is so ready to hear the message of the restored gospel! It's so cool, we invited him to church and he came! Our friend KJ also came to church which was so cool! I was really nervous to fast on Sunday and do missionary work, but it was okay! I lived! And being able to fast is such a blessing.
Yesterday morning Sister Hyde wanted to go running. If you know me (and I'm guessing you do) I don't like running. So I rode my bike while she ran and it was fun! Later in the day we talked to this family we're teaching and the two little girls wanted to take a picture with us! They're so fun! Then that night we met as a district and got some food, headed to the church and watched the transfer call there. The verdict is- Sister Hyde and I will be staying in Decatur! I am so relieved because I was not ready to move on, or have her move and lead out the area. There's so many cool things happening in Decatur and I'm grateful to be here for them!
Spiritual thought:
Most people in the south have very strong faith in Jesus Christ, they love Him, they pray everyday, they read their bibles. These people's lives are truly centered on Jesus Christ and I love it! I think it's important for all of us to remember the reason that we can be forgiven each day and return to live with our Heavenly Father, and it's Christ! The restored gospel of Jesus Christ should be part of every single day of our lives, and it should be something we talk about everyday!
Have an amazing week! don't forget to say your prayers
❤Sister Hansen
P.S. Why is this the longest email ever?
