6/12/2023 - Week 14 - Baptism Escapades!

Hola mis amigos,

Last week on Monday we went bowling with our district and we played our 10 frames then the Elders kept bowling in their lane and when we went to pay at the end the girl working goes "and you know you're gonna have to pay for those 3 extra games you bowled" LOL so they had to pay way more for bowling than we did.

The next day we had district council and we usually get food afterwards. So we went to Freddy's and brought our food back to the church, but while we were at Freddy's we met a Jehovah's Witness and she gave us her card with her phone number, so kind. Then after that our District Leader went over to KJ's to do his baptism interview! We went over to talk with him that night and he said the interview went well! He was so excited to be baptized!

That same day the strap on Sister Hyde's bag ripped and she had a video meeting that night so I sewed the strap back together during her meeting and it was actually really fun, I didn't realize I missed sewing.

On Thursday we got a call from a telemarketer and sister Hyde started asking him if he knew about the Book of Mormon and we tried to teach him but he wasn't having it haha. That night we found a froyo place in Decatur and we went and got some, so yumm!

On Friday we talked to KJ and talked about all the last minute things for his baptism and we got all the details figured out. So we went to the church and printed and folded all the programs

As you may know, when someone is about to do something good that will help them come closer to God, like making a covenant with Him, Satan doesn't like that very much... so he tries to stop it....

Saturday morning, the day of KJ's baptism we got a text from brother Knapp who is our ward mission leader, saying that he had strep throat and couldn't come to the baptism. No problem right? Yes problem, brother Knapp was going to be the one to fill up the font, pick up KJ, and Baptize him. So that morning we had a lot of things to figure out. We asked KJ who he wanted to baptize him instead and he said Brother Heirtzler, who we had asked last week if he would give a talk at the baptism. He had to get work off, but then we ended up asking someone else to give the talk, but the miracle was that he had work off and was able to perform the baptism and pick him up! The counselor in the bishopric who was presiding at the baptism was able to go early to fill up the font! So even though Satan tried to stop KJ from entering into a covenant with God, He had a bigger and better plan for the day! We are so proud of KJ and all the progress he has made and the testimony he has of the restored gospel!

Also on Saturday we talked to 3 different people who speak Spanish, we keep running into them and it's hard because we don't speak Spanish :(

On Sunday Don, KJ, and Nathaniel came to church! KJ got confirmed and received the gift of the holy ghost, it was so special ❤ I also painted a hardcover book of mormon with music notes for KJ because he writes music. I got to give it to him after church and he loved it! Sister Hyde and I both highlighted our favorite scriptures in there so he has to search to find them haha.

Also the past couple weeks I got so behind on my journaling it wasn't even funny, but yesterday I finally got caught up! Yay!

Spiritual thought:
I've been thinking a lot about lasting conversion, especially with KJ's baptism and how important it is that once we get on the covenant path, that we stay there. It isn't easy to do that, especially in this world, we truly are in the latter days. Satan is trying to throw everything that he has at us and we have to do all we can to keep moving forward. When I was in the MTC we talked about how staying on the covenant path is like an escalator that is moving down, if we aren't actively moving up, we will be going down. It's so important that we strive to do all we can to keep going up and not letting the world drag us down.

Love y'all, have a blessed week! ;)
