7/17/2023 - Week 19 - Birmingham Temple!!

Hi there, it's been a busy week!

Let's get into it

On Tuesday we ran into this guy who we hadn't been able to contact, but we saw him because we were knocking doors and he was picking his kids up from daycare that was run from someone's home. We didn't recognize him, but he recognized us! Also we knocked on this one door, didn't get an answer, then after knocking a couple more doors we were walking back by and there was one more car there so we knocked again and found this awesome person named Lala! She was so excited to have a book of mormon!

The next day we finally got to visit Don for the first time since his surgery! He is doing okay. When we were talking with him he had a notebook with notes written down, but then he set it down. Later during the lesson he goes "well ladies I was going to tell you that I was going to stick with my church and that we didn't need to meet anymore, but now I'm not sure" I guess the spirit was working on him and he's not sure what to think. He was able to come to church on Sunday too!

On Thursday we had this incredible meal with some members, she cooked like 10 different side dishes, all yummy southern foods! Afterwards we went to find some new people and we met an atheist who agreed to read from the book of mormon!

On Friday we met a lady who met missionaries in 2009 and still has a book of mormon from them, she is still in touch with some of the missionaries she met with and we had no idea that she existed.

And the absolute highlight of the week was on Friday night. We got to attend the temple with KJ for the first time! We drove down to Birmingham with some members and took some pictures there. KJ got to be baptized for his dad, then he learned how to baptize and he baptized Sister B for his grandma! Then he baptized Sister Knight and I for our family names! I feel so blessed that I got to see KJ go from just seeking to know God better, to being baptized for his dad in the temple. I love the temple and I am so grateful that I got to go to this week

The next morning as we were studying KJ sent us a song that he wrote about the temple and it is absolutely FIRE we have been listening on repeat

Then yesterday we were visiting a family in the ward and they were like yeah we have a bunch of violins, one of them is a 1/16 violin! which if you don't know, is tiny. They also have a green violin, and they let me play it! I love members so much! Also yesterday Parker was set apart as a missionary! He is officially now Elder Hansen!

For my spiritual thought I am circling back to the temple. We know I LOVE the temple, and I am so grateful for the blessing that it is to have temples on the earth where we can perform ordinances for our family members who didn't have the opportunity while on the earth. Something that we talk about a lot with our friends is that God is a merciful God, He gives second chances again and again to His children. Even those who didn't accept Christ's gospel while they were on the earth will get the opportunity to through family history work!

Have a great week everyone, I love ya!
