7/24/2023 - Week 20 - An Alabama Pioneer Day!

Hello hello everyone!

On Tuesday we invited our friend Don to be baptized and he said that he was surprised to be saying yes, but yes! The next morning we got a text from him saying that he was worried about his decision and he wanted to back out on it, so we went over and talked with him and resolved some of his concerns, and he was like "I don't even know what I was worried about" So we are excited for him! He is going to be baptized this Saturday, July 29th!

Wednesday night we got to attend a church service with our friend, Mona. She invited us to join her and we went and it was cool to see another church's way of doing things. It was a good sermon, and they are talking about things that are true, but it just shows me that they are missing something, that there is more truth, and that is what is found in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints!

On Thursday we visited one of our friends and she was about to have her apartment inspected and she was really worried about it. She was working on some laundry but let us come in and share with her. While we were there I think 6 or 7 kids came out of nowhere. When we got there there was like one kid there and they kept coming out of the woodwork. I hope their inspection went well. That night we had dinner with a couple in the ward who I just love so much. They are so funny and the spirit is so strong in their home. It was good to visit with them.

Friday we were coming back to our apartment and one of our neighbors was like "Hey y'all go to church a lot right?" and we were like "yeah" and he asked us to come back later and pray for him. When we came back we were able to share with him the book of mormon and he was so excited to hear that Jesus Christ came to the Americas! As we walked away he was reading the book of mormon! (His name is Tim and he calls himself the duck guy because he always feeds the ducks that live near our apt complex)

One night we didn't have a lot of time, but we decided to stop by and visit our friend and she was like come in! I had my baby! So we got to see her tiny little baby girl, we're so happy for her!

On Saturday the ward had this ward activity for pioneer day! They had a blow up waterslide, a pool, and a bunch of yummy food. We stuck to the food and talking to people (If we weren't missionaries you know we would've been all over that waterslide) But it was so good to visit with the members of the ward and get to know them better!

Yesterday our friend Brandon came to church and he brought his son! We were so glad they were finally able to come and feel of the spirit there. We also met a young girl who came up to us and said that missionaries used to come by and teach her family, but they stopped coming by and she wasn't sure why. It was so sweet that she wanted to talk to missionaries again! We gave her our phone number and hope that her mom gives us a call!

Spiritual thought:
Being out here I've realized how special it is that I have pioneer heritage, being from out west that is pretty common, but here not a lot of people do. And I'm grateful for those pioneers who trekked across the plains, I'm not sure if I would've been able to. But I also know that our day is hard too, we had different struggles but they're still hard and the only way to get through those trials is through Jesus Christ. The pioneers relied on Christ and so must we.
To quote a lady in our ward "I'm not walking across them plains".

Have a great week, since next week is transfers I will see you next Thursday.
