7/3/2023 - Week 17 - Showered in Blessings and Rain

Hey everyone another week has come and gone,

We are having a bit of a thunderstorm right now, so I am coming at you live from an Alabama storm. And let me tell you I have never heard thunder this loud in my life.

On Wednesday we had district council with our new district which was fun. Right after that we went to go help this family clean and pack for their move. We did a lot of boxing things up, we got some good work done pretty quick!

We didn't help them when the actual moving was happening but on Friday we helped out with cleaning the old house... it was a bit messy, but we got it cleaned up real nice. But we were there doing that for a couple of hours that morning, and then we went and did missionary work for the rest of the day and it was such a long day. But that's okay, missionary work is supposed to be a grind

We visited KJ this week for the first time since Sister Hyde got transferred and when he opened the door he looked at me and smiled, then he looked at Sister Knight and laughed and he was like "I'm sorry I miss Hyde, I'm used to seeing you two together" it was so sweet and kinda funny.

One day this week a member of our ward was feeding us dinner, but plans changed so we ended up getting cracker barrel curbside pick up and when we went to go get it the man who brought it to us was like "aren't you in my apartment building, I think I recognize you!" and we totally live in the same building it was so fun!

We had a lesson with this guy who asked us a couple questions and then started telling us his life story. He literally was like "So 10 years ago..." and went into his story about how he has come to know who Jesus Christ is, for a second there he thought that he was Jesus reincarnated because he cast a devil out of a little girl one time...... then he talked for 45 minutes

Yesterday after church an 8 year old boy in the ward got baptized and we got to stay and watch! It was so special, there were so many family and ward members there supporting him. I'm glad we got to be there to see. Also after church yesterday KJ received the Aaronic Priesthood! I'm so happy for him, and the ward is so supportive of him too!

This morning Sister Knight and I did our nails for the fourth of July!!! And we went and ate a a restaurant called "Sami's Place" and Sister Knight's first name is Sami so of course we had to go! also on our way to the church building we saw this girl walking in the rain and so we stopped to give her one of our umbrellas, and as we are in the rain handing it to her she goes "no." sister knight was like "Please take it!" and she was like "no!" like she was angry about it???? Idk people are silly.

In other news it has been very hot here this week, kind of feels like stepping into an oven somedays, but I'm just grateful that we have a car to cool off in every once in awhile. My face turns so pink when I get overheated, I literally look like a lobster but maybe people will take pity on me and join the church (just kidding... unless)

My spiritual thought today is about baptism. I have been reflecting on baptism a lot this week not only because of the young boy who was baptized yesterday but because 13 years ago today, I was baptized as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's crazy to me that it has been that long, and I am so grateful for the decision that I made to be baptized. That covenant is so important and it truly makes life easier as we bind ourselves to God!

Sorry that this email is so disjointed and confusing, it's been a weird week. Hopefully this makes at least a little bit of sense and I hope you all have a great week.

Thanks to hurricane Helene's arrival, Sister Hansen got to come home a few days early! We we're not the least bit upset about that! ...
