8/21/2023 - Week 24 - The Weather in Weatherly

Hey there, it's me again,

Last p-day we were in Huntsville with a whole bunch of other missionaries from areas all over Alabama. We were playing basketball, pickleball, spikeball, and ping pong. We had a lot of fun and that night we got to stay with Sister Goff and Sister Dahlin who live near Huntsville (A cute place called weatherly) because we had zone conference the next day. Sister Gerratt and I had the privilege of sleeping on their floor and during that night their weather radio went off 6 times. Basically this thing yelled at us and told us there was a severe thunderstorm and flash flood. SO there wasn't much sleep that night.

Tuesday was zone conference and it was SOOOO GOOOOOD- the theme that I got from it was "just do it '' Basically missionary work is hard... buuuut we just gotta do it anyway. I did a lil musical number at zone conference on the piano and it was pretty fire to be honest. I always think playing musical numbers in church is so funny because you just walk up there and play your little song and then go sit down and it's silent.

Anyway on Wednesday one of the members here took us out to a city outside of Scottsboro and while we were there her car stopped working. We asked one of our friends if she could help us jump the car and we tried it and the car wouldn't start. Basically we waited there for like 45 minutes and then the car started up lol. Kind of an adventure

On Thursday we met with Jamie at the church building and we invited her to be baptized and she said yeah let's do it. So we are excited for her! Later we had dinner with Sister Knowles in the branch and she is awesome. She gave us the "grand tour" of her property which included two houses, a trailer, a shop, a pond, and a horse pasture.

One day I was talking to a lady at Walmart and I asked her her name and she was like "Why do you need to know?" Uhhhh, just wanted to call you by your name. She literally didn't tell me her name.

We also invited our friend, Dave, to be baptized and he said yes! So now we have two friends on date to be baptized.

Yesterday a homeless man showed up to church... because he needs money to get his car back lol, but he said he wants to become a member of the church so we are going to start teaching him! His name? Well he introduced himself to some people as Gerald, and to other people as Graham. So we really aren't sure, haha.

This morning Sister Gerratt and I went to Unclaimed Baggage which is basically a thrift store for all the unclaimed baggage from airports, there are so many clothes, sunglasses, phones, tablets, etc. you name it. It was a lot of fun!

Spiritual thought:
During zone conference President Chibota invited us to set aside our fears and trust in God and I love that! Because of Jesus Christ we have no need to fear. When we put our trust in God we might still be scared, but we will be able to accomplish the things he's asked of us and the work we have to do.

Have a great week everybody, love ya!
